The opportunity to see the ‘Big 5’ (Elephant, Lion, Rhino, Leopard, Buffalo) in one easy-to-reach location such as Kruger National Park, or nearby Manyeleti Reserve is truly humbling. Stay in an authentic and comfortable bush lodge to really live the African dream. You’ll never forget your first big game encounter here. Or visit Madikwe Reserve for an even more remote and rustic self-sufficient experience.
South Africa offers so much adventure diversity, from multi pitch rock climbing on the stunning Drakensberg Mountains, kayaking with Hippos and Crocodiles In KwaZulu-Natal, skydiving over the African tundra, to surfing iconic breaks such as Jeffrey’s Bay on the Eastern Cape. There are memories for a lifetime to be had across this beautiful land.
One of the iconic things to do while in Cape Town is a hike up Table Mountain (one of the oldest mountains in the world) which overlooks the city and has expansive views to the 12 Apostles, Mitchell’s Plain and Robben Island. Once at the top, how about trying abseiling back down near the summit? Another favourite is to skydive over the stunning landscape, or follow one of the 400+ mountain bike routes across South Africa – a bikers dream, whether single track, touring or trail riding.
No description of adventure in South Africa would be complete without the incredible sights to see in dramatic waters just off the coast. The ‘Sardine run’ - one of the greatest ocean migrations in the world by number - starts in the Agulhas Bank (not far from Cape Agulhas - the Southernmost point in Africa), the Southern Right Whale migration occurs along the Cape south coast from June to November, and a highlight for many is cage diving at Shark Alley, Gansbaai - where one of the highest concentrations of Great White Sharks in the world converge beside Dyer Island (home to 50,000 Cape Fur Seals).
